I am very excited to announce that I am running for a seat on Sarnia City council in the 2018 municipal election. For those of you that don’t know me personally, for the past 13 years, I have worked as a Youth Outreach Worker for The YMCA’s of Southwestern Ontario and facilitates a harm reduction-based program, the Youth Gambling Awareness Program. I am experienced in board governance, with 12 years of experience as a Catholic School Board Trustee. I also have extensive business management experience specializing in hospitality and tourism management.
On October 22, 2018, I am asking for your vote. My commitments include:
- Fiscal accountability.
- Repairing and maintaining infrastructure.
- Diversifying our population and creating more job opportunities for our young people
- Ensuring a viable Parks and Recreation Master Plan
- Supporting the people of Sarnia with information and open lines of communication at every level.
I initially ran for trustee 12 years ago because I felt that the parent and student voice was lacking at the board room table at the time. I feel that during that time I did a great job of listening to my constituents and bringing forward any comments or concerns that they had. Now that my youngest has graduated high school, and I am no longer a parent with children in the system I feel that my board governance, business and hospitality and tourism experience can benefit the people of Sarnia.
